VIEUX-FORT, SAINT LUCIA – Grenada defeated St. Vincent and the Grenadines 27-12, when the two teams met on Tuesday July 24, 2018 day three of the 2018 CBN / WINLOTT Windward Islands School Games currently being held in Vieux-Fort, Saint Lucia.
Grenada led in all quarters: 6-4, 10-8, 16-9, and the final score 27-12. For Grenada goal-shoot Kelsie Murrell Ross netted 21 out of her 37 attempts, and goal-attack Carlene Alexander 6 out of 11 attempts.
Leading the Vincentian fight was goal-shoot Kristiana Christopher with 6 out of her 13 attempts, goal-attack Chaunte Williams 4 out of 10, and the replacement goal-attack Bobriel Ballantyne 2 of 6 attempts.
Then host Saint Lucia defeated Dominica in a netball nail-biter 27-25, the quarter scores being 7-5, 10-9, 21-15, 27-25; Saint Lucia leading in all.
Goal-attack Megan Nestor scored 18 out of her 29 attempts, goal-attack Daysha Eugene scored 9 of her 18 attempts for Saint Lucia. For Dominica, goal-attack Kyla Winston scored 15 out of 23 attempts, and goal-shoot Celina Langlaise 10 out of 14 attempts.
Meanwhile Dominica secured its first male basketball victory against Saint Lucia 47-40. For the Dominicans, Aaron Hypolite led the way with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals; Jonathan Mills 9 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals; Jacob Barry 7 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists 4 steals; and Faywani Foye 12 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist; while for Saint Lucia Noah Boyde had 11 points and 13 rebounds.
In the other male basketball game on the day, Grenada beat St. Vincent and the Grenadines 76-56. Leading the Grenadian charge was Akinde Redhead with 16 points, 5 rebounds; Jake Baptists 15 points, 8 rebounds; Omar Panchoo 15 points, 10 rebounds, Omar Walker 11 points, 13 rebounds.
For St. Vincent and the Grenadines Shad Thomas had a game high 20 points plus 9 rebounds; and Nicholas Lewis 11 points, and 5 rebounds.
In male volleyball, St. Vincent and the Grenadines beat Grenada 3-1; set scores 25-19, 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, while Saint Lucia defeated Dominica 3-0; set scores 25-11, 25-10, 25-23.
On Wednesday in female basketball, Dominica defeated St Vincent and the Grenadines 45-11. The Dominicans’ win was built around good performances from Shernese Joseph who had 11 points, four rebounds, and Kaylee Clarke seven points, five rebounds.
For St. Vincent and the Grenadines Merisha Lavia had 6 points 6 rebounds.
Points were shared in the other female basketball game between and host Saint Lucia, when rain forced the abandonment of the match, with Grenada leading 12-7 in the first quarter. As a result each team received were awarded one point.
