KINGSTOWN, ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES – Cornelius Huggins is back as head coach of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines national senior men football squad, after being dropped from that position in the latter stages of the team’s 2018 Russia World Cup qualifiers.
He will be assisted by Wesley Charles, with Kevin Richardson taking up duties as goalkeeping coach. Arrington Burgin is the physio, Otnell Douglas is manager, with Wayde Jackson his assistant.
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines football squad is goalkeepers: Lemus Christopher, and Kevan Henry; Defenders: Kevin Francis, Jolanshoy Mc Dowall, Akeem Williams, Jahvin Sutherland, Kishawn Johnny, and Danroy Edwards; Midfielders: Wendell Cuffy, Deron Hamlet, Deno John, Kyle Edwards, and Dennis Prescott; and the Strikers:Myron Samuel, Chavel Cunningham, Nazir Mc Burnette, Azinho Solomon, Zenroy Lee, Sherwin Alexander, and Kemron Osment.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines who are the defending champions, kick off its 2017 Windward Islands Football Association Men’s Football Tournament WIFA Senior Men campaign this Wednesday June 28 at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium in Grenada against Saint Lucia, while Grenada takes on Dominica in the night’s second encounter.
On Friday June 30, the teams will then journey to Fond for the second round where Barbados who are playing by invitation , and Dominica will engage each other, while and host Grenada meets Saint Lucia in the following encounter.
On Sunday July 2, 2017, Grenada and St Vincent and the Grenadines will do battle from 7:30 p.m. in the second match of the double-header at the Fond Playing Field. This will follow the Barbados versus Saint Lucia encounter from 5:30 p.m.
The tournament returns to the Kirani James Athletic Stadium for the final two rounds, with St Vincent and the Grenadines playing Barbados, and Saint Lucia opposing Dominica on Tuesday July 4; followed by Dominica against St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Grenada and Barbados on Thursday July 6.
