KINGSTOWN, ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES; SATURDAY JULY 22, 2017 – Goals by Hosni Chandler in the 8th minute, followed by Jamal Bishop in the 10th, Tevin Davis in the 27th from the penalty spot, and Jamal Samuel in the 45th; sent hosts St. Vincent and the Grenadines into the half-time interval with a 4-1 lead over Saint Lucia, when the two teams met at the Chili Playing Field on Saturday afternoon.
It was day one action in the 2017 CBN / WINLOTT Windward Islands School Games, with Saint Lucia’s goal coming from the boot of Alvinus Mayers in the 20th minute.
The two teams exchanged numerous goal raids in the second half, but none was able to find the back of the net; the game ending 4-1 in favour of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Earlier at the same venue, Grenada trounced Dominica 4-nil, with goals coming from Dorran Mandoo in the 14th, Keno Alexander in the 16th, Leon Baverboy in the 54th, and Eldon Milette in the 74th.
Earlier in volleyball, due to late finishing touches being put to the court at the Gomea Primary School, the Dominica versus Grenada game in Girls’ volleyball was postposed to ta date which is expected to be announced shortly.
Then it was St. Vincent and the Grenadines versus Saint Lucia in girls’ volleyball at the same venue. The Saint Lucians made quick work of the first two sets – 25 – 11, 25 – 08, but an unrelenting sun, beating down mercilessly began to sap the Lucians energy.
The Vincentians fought back as their opponents wilted, but were unable to break the spirit of the Saint Lucians who kept their heads tp win the third set 25 – 17; and the game 3-nil.
