KINGSTOWN, ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES; MONDAY MAY 07, 2018 –Clem Westfield wrote his name into the annals of top performers with a hat-trick as the 2018 St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation / St. Vincent Brewery Second Division Football Championships kicked off with four matches at two venues on Sunday May 06, 2018.
The fifteen-year-old, playing for North Leeward Predators against Largo Heights at the Layou Playing Field, wrote his name into the record books with goals in the 56th, 78th, and 79th minutes respectively.
In fact had he been a bit more composed in front of goal, he would have been able to double his tally on that day.
Aided by Westfield, North Leeward Predators went home 5-nil winners with Darneil Browne in the 44th minute, and Gilmore Woods in the 46th, enable the Predators to take control of the game which saw the first half ending in a nil-nil stalemate.
Although Largo Heights had their fair share of scoring opportunities, the second half belong to the Predators, but lack of composure in front of goal cost their a wider victory margin.
In the afternoon’s other game, Avenues United FC will have to wait before their players are tested. This is because BESCO Pastures FC failed to turn up. When the game was officially called off at 4:45 p.m., there was not one player and or official from BESCO Pastures FC was present.
As per the international rules, Avenues United FC receives all three points along with a 3-0 victory margin.
Over at the Chili Playing Field, System 3 went ahead in the 21st minute courtesy an Aaron Collis goal in their Second Division match against Jebelle FC.
However Jebelle equalised in the 46th minute when Dwayne Cupid found the back of the old onion bag to make the score 1-1; a score line which remained till the final whistle and neither team was able to break down the other’s defence structure.
Sion Hill FC failed to appear for the game against SV United, as a result losing the game 0-3, and gifting SV United three points.
