and Tobago, and Panama, to compete in what could be the club’s biggest challenge to date.

It is a journey that we of Avenues United do not take lightly, due to the significance of the tournament, and that we accept with humility, the burden of sporting ambassadors for our beloved St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The CONCACAF Caribbean Club Shield that we will be competing in from April 13 – 17, 2018, is a game changer, not just for Avenues United, but for all football clubs in the region, and for the young players in our squad who are still students.

If we get through the preliminary group stage matches on the 13th, 15th, and 17th, April 2018, Avenues United FC will then advance to the next round.

We cherish the opportunity that these students are receiving, for there will be scouts watching the games, and by the graces of GOD ALMIGHTY, we pray and hope that one of these youngsters will perform intelligently and creditably enough, to attract the attention of one of many of the scouts.

The financial cost for our journey is tremendous, totalling approximately EC$120,000.00, which will cover all costs from kits, to airline tickets, stipend for the 21 players and five officials, and other incidentals.

We at Avenues United FC hereby express our heartfelt thanks to the St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Lotteries Authority, COMSPORT, St. Vincent and the Grenadines Electricity Company, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation, which are the institutions that assisted us financially, in making our trip possible.

Additionally, Avenues United FC extends sincerest thanks to Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines – Dr. the Right Honourable Ralph Gonsalves, Mr. Venold Coombs – President of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation, Mr. Thornley Myers – Managing Director of VINLEC, Mr. MacGregory Sealey – General Manager of the National Lotteries Authority, and Mr. Michael John of Comsport.

Without the personal intervention of these individuals, our trip would not have been possible.

Also there are many persons who took time from their busy schedule to assist us in their own small way, and to them we also say thank you.

To the residents of Paul’s Avenue, we say a heartfelt thanks for believing in Avenues United FC, and giving us what little support possible which today have made Avenues United FC the club it is today.

To the families of the players, we salute your sacrifices and we will endeavour to play to the best that our abilities will allow us, as dictated by the circumstances and the environment that we will encounter to bring joy to your hearts.

To the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, we seek to bring pride to our sports, and that the CREATOR GOD ALMIGHTY will grant us the strength and intelligence to be successful in all we do.

It is only through the efforts of all of the persons and parties mentioned in coming to the assistance of Avenues United FC that it became a reality in making the trip to the Dominican Republic to compete in the CONCACAF Caribbean Shield.

We had to put a lot in place to get to the CONCACAF Club Shield, so the executive of the club intends to use this as the catalyst for propelling the club even further.

As Avenues United FC celebrate fifty years of existence, we are humbled by the concern shown by, and all assistance given over the years, and we pray that we all will continue to work together as one family to develop sports in our beloved St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

A sincere thank you
Avenues United FC
