KINGSTOWN, ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES; WEDNESDAY MARCH 28, 2018 – Myron Samuel took full advantage of another defensive error to give Shavel Cunningham the near perfect of passes just on top of the 18-yard box, who coolly placed the ball past the advancing goalkeeper to send Avenues United 2-1 ahead in the 78th minute, when they met the St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Under-20 training squad, in a friendly at the Victoria Park on Wednesday night.

Earlier the National Under-20s went ahead in the 11th minute, Chad Fraser pounced on a loose ball, controlled, looked up and slammed home from just about 20 yards out.

The loose ball came from Jalonshoy McDowell defensive error, when he failed to stop a pass form the right flank. The ball rolled beneath his foot, and Fraser like a predator lying in wait, quickly pounced, controlled the ball and sent a screaming right foot shot past the flying custodian.

Eight minutes later in the 19th minute, Samuels cancelled out the National Under-20 lead, and both teams went into the half-time break; the score locked at 1-1.

There were many close shaves for both teams, as the technical staff of the two combatants worked out strategies for upcoming regional engagements.

The game could have gone either way, but it was till Samuels worked his way through the National Under-20 defence, as they ball watch, allowing Cunningham to sneak past to collect the pass, slot home past the goalkeeper to give Avenues United a 2-1 victory.

The two teams will meet on Saturday afternoon March 31, 2018 at the Layou Playing Field at 2:00 p.m., in what may very well be a nail biter of an encounter.
