KINGSTOWN, ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES – Avenues United continued its preparation for the CONCACAF Club Championship with two practice matches on Sunday and Monday March 11th and 12th 2018, respectively.
On Sunday March 11th 2018 at the Victoria Park against a Veterans Select XI, Avenues United won 6-nil.
Shavel Cunningham and Bengy Williams scored two goals apiece, while Dino John and Myron Samuel each netted one.
At the Buccament Bay Playing Field on Monday March 12th, Avenues United lost 2-3 to the National Under-20 training squad.
Shavel Cunnigham scored both goals for Avenues United, while Trezine DeSouza with 2, and Gidson Francis one, were the goal scorers for the Under-20 training squad.
The inaugural 2018 CONCACAF Caribbean Club Shield, which will be competed April 13 – 21, 2018 in Santiago, the Dominican Republic, and will involve twelve clubs from 12 Caribbean Member Associations.
These clubs represent Member Associations with up-and-coming leagues, working their way towards full professional standards, following the CONCACAF league professionalization roadmap.
Avenues United of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Guyana Defence Force, Hard Rock Sports Club of Grenada, and SV Real Rincon of Bonaire have been drawn in Group B of the inaugural edition of the CONCACAF Caribbean Club Shield, scheduled to be played in April, 2018.
The other participating clubs in the 2018 Caribbean Shield are in Group A is SV Deportivo Nacional of Aruba, Inter Moengotapoe of Suriname, Weymouth Wales FC of Barbados, and USR Sainte-Rose of Guadeloupe.
Clubs competing in Group C are Cayon FC of St. Kitts and Nevis, Bodden Town FC of the Cayman Islands, RKSV Centro Dominguito of Curacao, and Club Franciscain of Martinique.
