GROS-ISLET, SAINT LUCIA – Goodman Warriors, led by a superb unbeaten half-century from Captain Jard Goodman, help put the finishing touches to a well-earned 4-wicket victory over Melius Challengers, as the Gros Islet Domestic 50-over cricket tournament, sponsored by the District Representative Honourable Lenard Montoute continued.

On Thursday May 3 at the Gros-Islet Playing Field, Goodman Warriors, replying to Melius Challengers’ total of 193, found themselves stuttering at 34 for 4, before skipper Jard Goodman and Chaz Cepal who shared in a fifth wicket partnership of 122, rescued their team.

The pair took the score to 156 before Cepal was dismissed. He made an even 50 which comprised of 5 fours and 3 sixes in 47 balls.

National Under-19 batsman Jard Goodman batted throughout the inning finishing on a magnificent 98 not out, just 2 runs short of a well-deserved century. His inning comprised of 9 fours and 5 sixes in 91 balls.

The other not out batsman was Denzel James on 03, when the inning closed on 194 for 6 in 31.5 overs.

Bowling for Melius Challengers, Alex Antione took 2 for 12 in 7 overs, Royce Paul 2 for 27 in 2.5 overs and Dillon John 2 for 37 in 8 overs.

The next match in the tournament is scheduled for this Sunday May 6 from 12:00 noon, when Polius Knight Riders comes up against Edward Blasters in a day/night match at the Gros-Islet Playing Field.
